Whenever I am talking to people about marketing the first thing they think of is buying advertising. Yes advertising is one way of marketing but actually it’s becoming the old way of doing things.

For the past 100 years companies that outspent, and out marketed their competition usually won. And the problem with these companies is that they spent all their money on advertising and not on the value of their product.

In today’s world global communications happens in split-second time. People can communicate all the world instantly. So marketing has changed that you must create more value than your competition. If you create more value for your customers, your success will skyrocket.

One way to outperform your competition is to create high-value products and give them away for free. I know you may be thinking, this sounds crazy. But your goal is to give away something of high value and then offer something of even greater value for purchase.

This is called an opt in e-mail list, and once you have their e-mail you can educate them and offer any new product that you create. This gives you a lifetime customers that you will never have to spend money advertising again.

I like to use a company online called aweber.com. This website will handle all your e-mail auto responders. You place a small code on your website, and aweber will send out your messages. What is important about a weber is they are a trusted mailing company and just about every e-mail gets into the inbox. You will not have to worry about your e-mails being filtered into the junk mailbox of your customers.
